Says Alan Smith, managing director of Cottingham Engineering Ltd. 'Having spent over 30 years in the automotive industry, it has long been my intention to design and manufacture innovative tools and appliances to make the job easier. Paul Irwin and I have been in partnership for well over 30 years with Midland Automatic Transmissions but have now decided to divide our skills to allow us to concentrate in our particular areas of interest.'

Cottingham Engineering Limited now encompasses the Seal-e-Zee and AE Autotech brands and Alan can often be seen at seminars and exhibitions promoting and demonstrating various products from the range. This year he will be writing and conducting seminars in Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Crimea, China and Europe with Bill Henney, the renowned automatic transmission specialist.

Alan says, 'As an established precision engineering company we are able to undertake almost any engineering requirement a customer may have, so the design and manufacture of tools and test equipment is a growing area for us.
